Foot deformities and fractures are common in uncontrolled Diabetes with High Glucose levels. As a result of Autonomic Neuropathy blood vessels of feet dilate and excessive blood flows to the lower limbs. Feet of such Diabetics are always warm, dry and swollen. Excessive blood flow to the bones leads to calcium resorption from bones leading to weak bones which may crackor breakdown even with normal stress of walking. Moreover sense of pain is lost and balance impaired due to damage to nerves in Diabetes , This leads to damage to feet , cartilages

and ligaments as the protective reflexes do not occur, even with substantial injury - the affected Diabetic continues to walk and damge the feet. This results in a typical deformity of foot called Charcot deformity. Diabetics are often unaware of this and do not even suspect a fracture which becomes worse and does not heel without proper treatment or surgery.
