Eat Less - Eat slow

Eat less- decrease the portion size of whatever food you were taking. This has many advantages- first of all its not difficult to do- after all you are eating what you were, this decreases the calory content of the food. But ultimately you have to take foods preferable for diabetics. Decrease unhealthy fats, increase dietary fibre, Take plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Eating slowly gives time for body to produce some insulin which may be sufficient to lower the steep rise in blood glucose. If you gulp down a given portion of food quickly – It gets quickly absorbed in the blood and steeply raises the blood glucose levels- as a result the failing pancreas has to come up with a huge supply of insulin in short time. But if the same food is consumed over some time it gets absorbed slowly and blood glucose also rises slowly- subsequently the insulin requirement would also be less, in Type 2 Diabetes there might be sufficient capability retained by pancreas to slowly supply the required insulin.
